How Can Cultural Values and Entrepreneurship Lead to the Consideration of Innovation-Oriented or Non-Innovation-Oriented Countries?

This study provides an analysis of the existing relationship between culture, entrepreneurship, and orientation towards innovation at national level. Drawing on creation Artificial Neural Network, using a sample 37 countries, this paper aims to catalogue each country as innovation-oriented or non-innovation-oriented considering six cultural dimensions proposed by Hofstede’s model country´s entrepreneurial activity. The results achieved suggest that three dimensions—long-term orientation, individualism, indulgence—are positively associated with consideration innovation-oriented, but one them—uncertainty avoidance—is non-innovation-oriented. On other hand, while power distance masculinity do not seem be significant variables in analysis, activity rate is countries classified shed light relationships values, innovation, providing valuable information for stakeholders, mainly those belonging private sector governments, when designing strategies aimed creating favourable environments development country’s technology, research, innovation.
